For the first time, So What’s Next? launches a special Opening Night on Friday 3 November. Dutch soul singer Kovacs – originally from Eindhoven – was invited to perform the music from her forthcoming album. But as So What’s Next? was also curious who this expressive singer is inspired by herself, Kovacs was asked to curate a special music program with up-and-coming artists that she follows and would like to share with a large audience. She chose to invite young talents that she has recently spotted and has asked three bands of her personal choice to join her for the night.

The artist of her choice are Dutch vocalist Nona, American vocalist and cello player Gabriel Royal and British soul en R&B singer Jessica Wilde.

Kovacs: “When I first heard Nona sing four years ago, I couldn’t believe my own ears. No wonder she went to New York the past year to record her first EP. Jessica Wilde is from London where I recently met her. She sent me a link with her new music and I felt really impressed. She’s at the starting point of her career and I’m convinced she will go fast. I don’t know Gabriel Royal personally but when I saw a YouTube video of one of his street performances, I immediately fell in love with his voice and cello playing. My evening at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven will be special in many ways. Hope to see you there!”

About Kovacs
With the release of ‘My Love’ in 2014, Kovacs (27) established her name with a bang. My Love was embraced by audiences worldwide, receiving 11 million views on YouTube.

Kovacs: “I love the fluctuations of moods, my music has a soul.” Not surprisingly, her influences come mainly from the past. “Inspirations for me are for example Betty Davis, Etta James and Tina Turner, singers with a personality who really have lived a life with all their emotions in their voices. That has always attracted me. ” Her hit-single was followed by debut album Shades of Black in 2015. She won a 3FM Award and was received the European Border Breakers Award at Eurosonic Noorderslag festival in 2016. And now there’s the danceable new single ‘Sugar Pill’, preceding a second album that will come out coming fall. The new album is produced by Liam Howe (Lana Del Rey, Adele, Marina and the Diamonds, and FKA twigs). So What’s Next? will have the scoop of being one of the first to share Kovac’s new songs with her fans!
